Beaches offer unique opportunities to use advanced photographic techniques to help capture the interaction of water, sky, motion, and light. Alone, none of these elements are particularly interesting, but when captured together at just the right moment, the results can be profound. This image was captured using Sony’s 24-105 “kit lens,” a term usually used to describe the cheaper less capable glass that’s often bundled with a camera body. Don’t be fooled though - the 24-105 is pro quality glass. It’s unbelievably sharpe edge to edge, it’s compact and it’s affordable. Paired with a Hoya variable ND filter and a solid tripod, you have everything you need to create digital magic.
