I finally saw Birds of Prey and I got an actual, physical movie ticket for the first time in a while. It's funny that the ticket still says Birds of Prey since the name of the movie was changed to Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey instead of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), which is quite a mouthful.
Let me start by saying that I'm more of a Marvel girl than DC, and know very little about the DC comics. Of the DC movies, I like the Nolan Batman trilogy, I love Wonder Woman and Shazam!, and I actually found Suicide Squad pretty fun. The rest I don't really care about. So not being a die-hard fan of DC, I was kind of on the fence about Birds of Prey. Part of that was because I was briefly reading the Birds of Prey comics and it featured Batgirl, Black Canary, and Huntress, so Harley Quinn as the focus of the movie confused me.
Did I enjoy the movie? Yes, it was fun and colorful and featured several badass women. It was also a bit more violent than I expected. And, for me personally, the storytelling felt disjointed. The way the story skipped back and forth in time just didn't work for me. I really wanted to love this movie but something about it just didn't work for me. I would definitely watch it again because it was super fun, but it won't be my new favorite superhero movie. I also hope they decide to make another Birds of Prey or Harley Quinn movie, but we'll see.🌟🌟🌟
