I know I've said this before, but every meal is just phenomenal! 🍽 Tonight we had the sticky chicken burger. I DID IT!!! I feel damn proud of myself right now!!! I went 100% all in, to the point of yelling at my hubby when he threw food to me and I caught it in my mouth without thinking 🤣🤣 I didn’t have caffeine, alcohol, sweets, or basically anything processed for 3 weeks despite a couple of small social gatherings and two canoe trips. 2 of the weeks I was fully vegan - something I was terrified to do. I truthfully thought I’d be miserable and missing my normal foods so much. I wasn’t and I’m not! I lost 13 pounds, ditched the uncomfortable bloated feeling, and the puffiness in my face that comes so quickly with poor nutrition is gone. My skin is clear and I’ve had multiple people tell me I look like I’m glowing (not preggo, promise!). My body LOVES when I eat well. Plain and simple. A few things from the detox I’ll be continuing now that it’s over: • Meatless Mondays • Drinking 24 oz water 30 minutes before eating a meal • Keep higher sugar foods in the AM • Moving to just 1 serving of caffeine a day, my pre workout, and drinking decaf coffee bc I love it • Afternoon Snack Shakes - helps me go into dinner less hungry and eat a smaller portion size • Main carbs will be sweet potatoes, brown rice, and quinoa I am grateful to have my portion control container system to get back to, knowing that it works well for me! It builds in treats, allows for balance, and doesn’t leave me feeling deprived. I will be teaching my new people more tips and tricks about nutrition that I’ve learned this past month in my next group - June 8 we kick off!! Let’s talk nutrition 🥦 🍎 🥩 🍰 🍸 ⠀ Nutrition is the #1 part of my health journey that I struggle with, and that’s the overall consensus with my bootcamp ladies too. So I know we can’t be alone!!! ⠀ About a month ago I was in a rut with my eating habits. I was making healthy choices about 50% of the time. The other 50 I was eating candy, drinking too much wine, and eating every treat that our patients bring to us every day (if you work in a dental office, your probably feel me!) 🍭 🍩 😩 ⠀ The last 3ish weeks I’ve been able to really refocus and no duh... I saw MAJOR results the last 3 weeks of my boxing program - when I wasn’t really seeing any the first 3. ⠀ Just like working out, what works for me is settling into a healthy eating routine. The nutrition plan that works for me focuses on portion control, and I really enjoy that nothing is “off limits” but all in moderation 😊 ⠀ This is probably gonna sound silly, but the last 3 weeks I have been physically writing down every morning in my journal “I feel my best when I eat my best!” This has been a good way for me to refocus, and remind myself that I’m not making healthy choices because I’m PUNISHING myself or restriction 👎🏼 It’s because I truly want to FEEL my best! And guys... it’s working. ⠀ I’ve noticed a change not only in my body and on the scale, but in my overall attitude and energy levels. 👏🏻 ⠀ I preach in my bootcamps that it’s all about routine. If you are struggling with nutrition: 1) Refocus. Remind yourself that you are doing this to FEEL your best. And 2) if you’re still struggling... remind yourself that you’re an adult. And sometimes you have to make choices that you want “want to” in order to have the results you want (tough love sorry 🤗) ⠀ Find what works for you! Play around with nutritional theories. Whether your goals for training your glutes are aesthetic or you’re more interested in maintaining strength in your deadlift (I’ve found deadlift to be the toughest lift to train without any equipment), these are some of my go-to exercises. The number of reps for each set will depend on the training status of the individuals. To establish your reps, give each exercise a try and find the number of reps that leaves you with 2-3 reps left in the tank at the end of your set. It’s likely that one of your legs will be stronger than the other. If that’s the case, use your weaker leg to select your reps. To apply progressive overload, add a rep to each exercise per week for 4 weeks. • 🔸Bulgarian Split Squat: 4 sets. Yes, I know I keep recommending these. They really are one of the best exercises in our tool box during no-equipment times. 🔸Single Leg Glute bridge: 4 sets. My video of these are super awkward because I’m an idiot and tried to do them with my foot on a rug. Don’t do that. Knee should be directly over heel at the top of each rep. 🔸Reverse lunge: 3 sets. Finish the reps on one leg before switching to the other. • Notice that in the lunges and the split squats I’m hinging over at the hips and sitting my hips back and down as I lower to the bottom of the rep. I have the blessings of CLEAN water and heat/air/lights. ⁣ ⁣ 🙄 If Karen complains one more time. Change that - I’m grateful that I can provide Karen a safe place to talk about things that are bothering her. ⁣ ⁣ 🙌🏻Change the UGH to a positive and see the day change. I know that in the moment it’s not what you want to do. BELIEVE me, I have my moments. ⁣ ⁣ Do you think that I was always sporting an attitude of gratitude when I laid in a hospital bed in a diaper not even knowing what I was gong to do? Heck no! I had my moments. I even had a day where I asked them to shut the blinds, the door, and turn off the lights. I have myself a day to let it out. ⁣🤬🤬😭😭 ⁣ But THEN I slapped on that smile, prayed, and changed my attitude. ⁣😉 ⁣ ...give it a chance! Try it, for a day or a moment. Just try it. ⁣ ⁣ There’s something to be grateful for even in the darkest moments.

Transformation Tuesday! Not been feeling the best recently about my running or fitness in general, but then I look back to what I used to be like, 10 years ago, overweight, unhealthy, and although smiling, not really happy with the way I was. Dietary fat: friend or foe? Seeing as fat is an essential macronutrient, I'd probably say a friend. . At 9 calories per gram, fat is the most concentrated source of energy in the diet (might be why some think eating fat makes you fat). . It gets a bad rap even though it is a nutrient that we need to function properly. . It helps us absorb fat soluble vitamins such as vitamin A, E, K and D. It supports a healthy immune system. It helps your body produce sex steroid hormones such as testosterone and oestrogen. Fats are an important component of cell membranes. . There are 3 main types of dietary fat: Trans fats. Saturated fats. Unsaturated fats (Mono and Polyunsaturated). . 🚫Trans fat? A no go. It has been shown to have detrimental effects on health. So avoid it or at least limit it. Anything that has "partially hydrogenated vegetable oil" on the label will have trans fat in it. . ⚠️Saturated fat? Some is fine, a lot is likely not, so go easy on your bulletproof coffee (even though dairy is mostly saturated fat, it seems to behave differently in the body 👍). Current recommended saturated fat intake is around 10% of your total energy intake. . 🥑Mono and Polyunsaturated fats? Now, these are the fats you might want to pay attention to. They have been shown to have beneficial effects on health such as reducing the risk of 💚 disease. No point over thinking it though. Just try and include the avocados, and nuts, and olive oil, and seeds. Make sure you emphasize the omega 3s, especially the EPA & DHA 🐟. If you don't eat oily fish, then I'd recommend you take a supplement. . And remember there's no source of fat that is 100% one type or the other. For example, avocados contain mostly monounsaturated fat, plus a small amount of saturated and polyunsaturated fat. 🤷‍♀️ #macros

Today, I told my girls doing this program with me that it’s right about now in a program where the pack starts to separate. Our girls begin to listen to those outside temptations and negative people around them that want to tear them down for wanting to better themselves vs. lift them up. I mean it baffles me that in today’s society we thrive on tearing people apart because of our own insecurities. That mindset of “if I’m not thriving, you aren’t going to be either!” . What would happen if we truly surrounded ourselves around the people that made us stronger, wiser, and just plain kind! Today was Day 1 of a new program...but it is also Day 700ish. 🤷🏼‍♀️ . This is something that is really hard for me to admit. ⠀ I’ve actually started this program before. Twice to be exact. I’ve had great results and then let my excuses get the best of me and I didn’t finish. ⠀ And I hesitated to admit this because it makes me feel like less of a coach. Monday Meal Prep!! *SCROLL FOR RECIPES & SAVE* ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Meal prep doesn't have to be boring at all. This week I shopped my freezer to try and clean it out some, also save some money. My spending during quarantine has been a little impulsive so decided to try and focus on those Dave Ramsey baby steps again. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I am no cook by any means and most of my meals come from Pinterest or one of my cookbooks. When my own personal Gordan Ramsey (my 11 year old) licks the plate after a meal I get super excited and know I can add it to my favorites board. ⁣⁣ ⁣ One of the biggest challenges is always finding foods that my kiddo will eat but that also stay in line with my own intolerances. All these meals are free of my allergens, Gluten-Free, Paleo, and have no Migraine triggers (I substitute soy for coconut aminos). EASIEST lunch/snack evaaa. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ This lunch meat is hella good. I have a slight obsession with what I call “flaked ham” it’s really called chipped ham. It’s just the ham shaved super super fine. It’s amazing. ⠀ ⠀ I hate buying lunch meat because I can’t track deli meat. I’m sure I could but honestly that’s a lot of work and I don’t feel like it most days. ⠀ ⠀ I’ve bought this ham before and it’s amazing. Nice and thin, and the stats are BOMB. 2oz is 70 calories/12 grams of protein/2 carbs/460sodium. ⠀ ⠀ I take this and string cheese I use (light Sargento) peel it and make roll ups. I also use this honey mustard because it’s low in calories (10) for a teaspoon and I think it gives tang that most honey mustard dressings/dips don’t. I know I have specific honey mustard for specific things. I told you all I’m weird. ⠀ ⠀ Anyway. This is a super easy lunch/snack. It’s no work, and high in protein so for 2oz of ham, 1 string cheese and 1tsp honey mustard. It was 125 calories, and 18g of protein. Hot damn! ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ I love easy ideas like this, because as much as I love cooking sometimes I just don’t feel like it. Also, I’ve now blown up your feeds with my food over the past 4 days.
