This is Andy.
Andy was with a friend in the #honolulucoffeecompany cafe at #alamoanacenter ; he was wearing really bright colors and a bold amount of bling, and I thought Andy was really cool until, after I complimented his get-up and got his permission to take a photo of his arms, he said “now wait, this is America, can’t have something for nothing,” stood up, gave his friend his phone to take a photo of us and proceeded to grab my arm (tightly) to pull me toward him. Which was unnecessary cuz I was fine w/ a pic.
However, this is the 3rd time in the span of 1 month that an elderly gentleman has found it within his rights to tightly grab my arm or wrist when wanting to direct me somewhere. Once in Germany, twice here.
And while I know how to get out of them, I shouldn’t have to.
I feel like because I smile, because I openly talk to people and begin with kindness, I’m perceived as naive or weak or moveable.
I am kind until you give me reason not to be.
So then I calmed my fury with some #lilikoimacarons and this delicious #rosemarylatte ☕️
