(Spot us😉!)We really enjoyed it and wanted to share our experience and let u guys know about it. Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP) uses the body, movement and dance as a way of expressing oneself and findings ways of exploring and addressing psychological problems or difficulties. It is an approach to psychological treatment that does not rely on talking about problems as the only way of finding solutions. Researches have found out that DMP has been successful in decreasing the symptoms of those suffering with clinical depression, schizophrenia, dementia etc. We were feeling very energised. There were positive changes we experienced in our mood such as being more happy and joyful. It also helped us make a connect with people in the workshop. We realised there are a lot of creative ways to explore yourself and to help yourself, to explore your mental health. These are unconventional and should be tried. Mental Health Tip #2 - Do the Work Ahead of Time • • Take advantage of your time when you’re in a good state of mind to make things as easy as possible for yourself when you’re feeling down. • • When I was trying out a new antidepressant in 2018, I knew that things would be especially difficult. (Medication can be helpful, but the process to find the right one can be VERY tricky and it has the potential to make things even worse.) • • So, I made a spreadsheet in Google Sheets with the next two weeks of dates listed. I shared it with my close friends and asked them to sign up for slots to check in on me. • • I knew myself and I was pretty certain that if I were to start slipping into a depressive episode, I wouldn’t have the energy to reach out to someone and ask for help. This way, they were reaching out to me first. It was such a relief to have this safety net. • • P.S. To those friends that participated in my check-in spreadsheet, I am forever grateful. ♥️

When enduring a mental health issue, especially in the early stages, we want to feel like we’re doing something, ANYTHING, to feel better. Things don’t click instantly. We don’t recover from this overnight. When we break a leg, we’re not out dancing the next day. There is a healing process. My scars act as a reminder that I've been through a tough time, am still going through a tough time and yet I continue to survive. I could say that I 'don't care' about people's harsh comments when I open up enough to show them, or that the comments from strangers whn I'm at a pool aren't hurtful, but they are. And it would be nice of people weren't horrible. I'd do anything to completely errase these scars, I use bio oil everyday in the hopes that it will make them go away. At the time, when I did them, I didn't think that I'd be around in a future to worry about the scars that it would leave behind, I felt hopeless and didn't even consider the negative effect it would have on me and how people view me in the future. I would be lieing if I said I didn't regret it. I regret it with every bone in my body. But physical scars, like mental scars, cannot be removed and they will always be there even when they have healed as a reminder of the battles you've been through. I'm trying to learn mot to be ashamed of my scars. I have recently been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo over them. Part of me would love a tattoo over them to cover them up and to prevent me from doing it again there (I'd hope that a tattoo would act as a deterrent and I wouldn't want to). However, part of me thinks 'why should I have to?' I shouldn't be bullied by societal judgement into getting a tattoo so that I look more socially acceptable and so people don't stare. However, people will continue to stare as its human nature. Maybe if I get a piece of artwork on my legs it might act as a reminder that beauty can come from the darkest of moments, maybe it will be something new to remind me to never go back to that place. I've almost come comfortable with my scars though and almost just see them as a reminder of the dark places I've been, I'm not sure I want to get rid of them. Last Thursday I was blessed to attend @venetiafalconer live talking tastebuds podcast on toxic masculinity @pukkaherbs The three guests @brettcobley @eddyelsey and @michaeljameswong Offered some reasons why men believe they should behave in certain way as well as some practical steps we can all take to achieve a state of balance. Growing up you would always be told to 'man up' if anything happened. At times I wouldn't really be affected by bottling things up. But as I grew older I started to become a really angry individual. Only after learning to open up and share did I start to understand expressing how I felt was totally ok. Do I do it all the time, No. But, with everyday is an opportunity for me to learn more about myself. Now, as a father, it's my hope by giving my children the opportunity to talk and more importantly for me to listen they will never be scared or ashamed to share how they feel. @wellbeanco sealed the evening with their well rounded and delicious chocolate 👌

I've been putting it off for weeks, because I couldn't face it. Today was the day though. I did my hair, threw on some makeup and laid out a few outfits for a little mini photo shoot.
