This pose comes in the ashtanga primary series right after #paschimottanasana or forward fold. It feels really good to activate the muscles of the back body and stretch the front of the body when you’ve been deep in a forward fold. It’s a nice complementary posture. . . The trickiest thing about this is shoulder joint mobility. We will be discussing this in detail in our life tonight!!!! . A reverse table top position is a great modification for this pose. This is something that just takes time to develop the strength and openness for. One tip is to think of lifting with your hip points highest instead of the belly. . May 18th - May 10th 🙌🏽 [SWIPE!] . . Yes, I am sooo totally aware this isn’t a jaw-dropping transformation, but it’s MY transformation. This is TEN days of setting moving my body as a NONNEGOTIABLE and sticking to my meal plan 80/20. I am PROUD. A few weeks ago I shared that I wanted to be open and honest with MY journey and sharing more of the “in-betweens,” not just the grand finale! 😉 So this is me TEN days of keeping promises to myself and HARD WORK. I believe EVERY victory needs to celebrated - no matter how small! . . Right now, I feel SO strong, but I know I can get stronger. 🤘🏽 My * OWN* goal is to simply become stronger FEEL SO darn good. I am on the brink, sweet friends. Incredible things are coming + I am so grateful to have this little nook to document my lil journey while I find my feet. ✨ . . Lauren believes the exploration of the world through the practice of yoga is her dharma and seeks to create community through raw, real connection. Lauren believe we are all intricate parts Lauren Autenrieth holds 500 hour advanced certifications in both Hatha & Vinyasa Yoga. She has continued her education in various modalities including Bhakti, Iyengar, yoga therapy, Thai massage, Yin, and pre and post-natal yoga. Over the last decade Lauren has come to believe that travel and experiences outside of your own are the foundations of empathy and understanding; if we as human beings are able to practice and live with mindfulness, seemingly small acts can make a profound impact. On retreats you can expect daily yoga and meditation classes, local and healthy meals, and full days of rich culture, adventure and raw connection. Viparita karani is a Sanskrit term that denotes an act of inverting. In Sanskrit, viparita means "inverted" or "reversed," and karani means "doing" or "making." This pose is also called ‘legs up the wall pose’. In this asana, the practitioner lays on the back with the legs extended against a wall forming a 90 degree angle. Viparita karani is a restorative asana that soothes and energizes the body and mind. It is very similar to salamba sarvangasana. However, viparita karani is more accessible for beginners and easier to hold. This asana helps cool and soothe the nervous system; often practiced as a final pose before beginning pranayama and dharana. Rest days are just as important as exercise. Resting allows your body to recover and repair. Skipping rest days can lead to overtraining or burnout. Specifically, rest is essential for muscle growth. Exercise creates microscopic tears in muscle tissue; during rest, fibroblast cells repair them. For stronger bones, and for the tissue to heal and grow, this process is necessary. There are other ways to do ‘yoga’ on rest days; study scripture, meditation, pranayama, yoga nidra, Bhakti.... Choose one and let your physical vessel rest. Svadhyaya means study of the scriptures. Here (for yoga), that means study of scriptures devoted to Self Knowledge. For Svadhyaya, read the verse and use your intelligence to get the meaning of it.
